The turbo holdem software by Wilson is one of the better known poker programs on the market at this time. I was very excited about reviewing it, and I tried to stay as reasonable and fair as I could when I demoed the program. Overall I found some pretty surprising things from it, all of which you will learn about when reading this.
The Wilson website for the software is very simple and clutter free, allowing you to get on and download the product with ease. They include key features of the program and testimonials, but I didn’t find anything too special about the site. It was nice to be able to download a demo version of the software before you purchase it; however, I am a little disappointed that the demo version didn’t include all of the features that the site boasts about. The major draw back that I found about this program without even playing yet was the cost. At a hefty price of $89.00, I was surprise to find the same and even better features in some other cheaper software that I had reviewed.
Downloading and installing the program is very easy, and there are included instructions that give you a detailed description of the features of the program. I found this to be very helpful since this software contains a lot of statistical features that I would have missed if I hadn’t read this instruction sheet.
Once you have installed the program and open it, you will notice that they give you a pop up tip each time you open the program. Many people will find this annoying, but most of the time the tips they give can actually be applied and you will benefit from them. The software is full of aids such as odds, advice, statistics, logs, and hand rankings all of which can be applied to make your game more successful. The main problem that I found with the game play in this program was the fact that you could only play against computer players and not live players like online. This bothered me, and I honestly feel that you can’t grasp some of pokers most important concepts while playing against a computer.
On a poker software that is meant to aid a player, the most important part for helping someone is the advice that is given. I thought that this program did a good job of supplying the player with detailed advice that took into account semi-bluffs and bluffs. Also, you have to click on something in order to gain advice, so if you want to make a play and then test to see if you made the right one, you are able to do it without accidentally cheating and looking at a revealed advice. The other things that I found to be really positive in this program was the ability to speed up a hand that you weren’t in, and to peek at opponent’s cards. This is something you cannot find in some of the other poker software that is based on an online poker room.
I found this software to definitely be beneficial in enhancing one’s knowledge and skill in poker. I would recommend it to the serious player, who really wants to learn more about poker and be introduced to the mathematical side of playing cards. I was a little disappointed at the price of this product, and although the quality is high, I don’t know if it’s really worth $89.00. Another thing that bothered me is that the only game you can play is Holdem, unless you want to upgrade and spend more money to purchase the other games. Overall, the software was well made and programmed, however, only buy it if you are looking to dive into the poker world and become a serious pro player. I advise you to read our review on Holdem Partner if you are looking for software for online poker. Good luck and enjoy.
