The Chip Twirl

Sep 4, 02:53 PM

The chip twirl is a relatively easy and fun chip trick to do during poker games, hell, it's fun to do any time. I will guide you through how to perform the chip twirl using my method, though many players use different methods for this chip trick.

Performing the Chip Twirl
Start off by using three chips, or even quarters if you have no access to chips. The first step in learning the chip twirl is how you set up the chips between your fingers. Place the chips so that all 3 of them are being held between your thumb and index finger. Then, slightly loosen your grip between your thumb and index finger, and by using your index finger let the middle chip fall so that it is held between the ring finger and the index finger. This process is very hard to get down and usually takes quite a bit of practicing before you can get it down reliably. Keeping quarters on hand is always helpful, because you can do it wherever you are.

Now, with the middle chip between your index and ring finger take your middle finger tip and place it on the edge of the middle chip. Move your middle finger towards your palm. If done correctly you will have twirled the chip in place. This step is also a very hard one and only practice will enable you to do it. The last step in the chip twirl is to slide the other two chips back into the middle chip so you end up with what you started with. After you have mastered doing this trick with one twirl you can try to do multiple twirls, or instead of using 3 chips you can use four. Also you can try to take two chips out of the middle at once and spin them. (Of course, this can only be done if you start with 4 or more chips). The chip twirl is a very impressive maneuver to perform and is a great way to show “experience” while sitting at the poker table.
