The Chip Roll

Sep 4, 02:46 PM

The chip roll is a very basic chip trick that can be learned easily with a bit of practice. The basis of the chip roll is to take X amount of chips and to drop them just so that they roll to your other hand. The chip roll is performed by many poker players that are seen on ESPN and the likes and if done right will give you the look of an experienced player.

Setting Up The Chip Roll
To begin the chip roll take about 4 chips and hold them inbetween your thumb and index finger, positioning the chips right inside your index fingers knuckles for many people. Then place the outside (pinky side) of your hand flat with the table. Many people make the mistake of leaving their hand in midair which creates a consistency problem.

The Drop and Roll
Now all you have to do is let go of the chips one by one, starting with the outer chip and working in. Let each chip fall onto the bottom of your pinky finger/hand, this will make it propel across the table at a brisk roll. Now with a bit of practice, work towards rolling the chips about 8-10” to your other hand and stopping them while they are still upright. Congratulations! Now if you want to look even more pro, you can try working with more chips rolling them even farther. The chip roll is a very entertaining trick and well worth the effort, which is a small one at that.
