Texas Holdem Strategy

Apr 20, 01:01 PM

Texas Holdem Strategy may be the most complicated and advanced of all poker games. It has also has obtained the reputation of being one of the most exciting and entertaining cards games of all time, and this is all said for good reason . One of the main contributions to why this game is so interesting is that you have the privilege to see 70% (or the 5 community cards) of your opponents cards and vise versa. You now only have to focus on the two cards that you cannot see and by experiencing the bad and good beats you will enhance your skills of reading and predicting your opponent's hands.

It is close to impossible to describe in detail how to play each hand, and in which way it is best to play it. There are so many different techniques that can be used by players, and all of the main ones will be focused on further in their own articles. When you are in the hand, you have the option of playing your cards in so many different ways, that to define one strict strategy that would constantly work would never be accurate or beneficial.
Since texas holdem is partially a game of luck, and this is shown when you have the best starting hand, but still lose to the worst hand once the flop comes. It is because of this, that I can not issue one strategy that I recommend or one way of playing each type of hand. Poker is a game in which observation is more important then immediate actions. If you are able to pick up on your opponents tell then you will be able to know how to play each hand that you are in with him.

This leads me into my next point that certain strategies are not just for certain cards but they can be for certain players. It is important to realize that each player has their own unique method of playing and reactions, so where as one player could slow play aces, the other might just try and over bet the pot to make it look like a buy. You need to be able to recognize your opponent's strategies, and then counter them with your own. When you are able to do this consistently and precisely you will be successful more times then not. Remember that poker has luck involved, so there is never any guaranteed wins.

Hopefully these above topics sound interesting and you are just dying to read about all the strategies that are featured inside. I will try and guide you through the easy, to moderate, to expert strategies and tactics so that you will knowledge for the game will improve. Some of the topics that I will be discussing will include how to slow play, how to bluff, and how to make hand selections. Enjoy the tutorials and good luck.
